Show Summer reading classes offered at library Olympic reading champions will fill the Uintah County Library this summer to participate in "Olympic Readers," this year's theme for the annual summer reading club offered to youth by the library. Registration for the summer program will be May 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the library where each child will be assigned to an Olympic team, receive their game card, bookmark book-mark and be treated to a variety of films, sports, movies and cartoons, which will be all day both days in the multi-purpose room. Registration must be made in person, no telephone calls will be accepted, said Mrs. Doris Burton, head librarian. Additional programs to be held throughout the summer will include Story Time for children 4-8 years old (Advanced 8-year olds may choose to attend Brown Baggers). Story Time will be Tuesday from 3-4 p.m. beginning begin-ning June 2. The hour will include a variety of story telling mediums, puppet shows, singing, and films. Brown Bagger reading hour for ages 9 and up will be Wednesdays from 1-2 p.m. beginning June 3. Each child is to bring a sack lunch. This program will include a variety of literature suitable for this age group, Mrs. Burton said. In addition to the reading program a variety of art programs will be featured. Limited registration will be taken for drawing, pencil, pen and ink for 9 years and up to be Wednesday from 2-3 p.m. beginning June 3. Cartooning Car-tooning for 8-12 year olds will be Thursday froml:30-2:30p.m. beginning June 4. Craft class for 6-7 year olds will be Friday from 10-11 a.m. June 5. There will be no charge for the classes, but each child will be required to furnish their own supplies and be limited to register for one art class only. The summer program will culminate August 6 with Olympic games and ceremonies at the library at 7 p.m. |
