Show "b"o"b"b"b mmiTi'i BBSs jTTnnrtnrrt Signal light option Dear Editor: The frustration our councilmen experience as they try to secure signal lights along our main street must be great. We appreciate this and feel the need to offer our support. I personally feel we have an option that can help, somewhat, the pedestrian in mid-town. The left turn lane has increased the dancers in walking across Main even if the crosswalks clearly marked I feel I'm playing Russian Roulette to try to walk a small child across anywhere in the 10 block area. The number of auto-pedestrian accidents ac-cidents in the last lew years bears this nut ine most precarious seems to lx the post office corner. The option I'm seeking action on is the "Stop for Pedestrian" signs. Out of state drivers are not always aware this is a Utah law. The use of the left turn lane confuses the driver trying to obey the law of not passing a car stopped at an intersection. We have used these signs in the past, other towns on state highways use them, the mayor assured me months ago that they would le considered, we've never needed them more urgently. I feel they can be mounted somehow if the effort was sincerely made. I would urge either action or a satisfactory answer with an alternate, possibly better idea. .JACKY GRAY |
