Show Lehi's winning runs in its victory over Moab in a 2-A semi-final contest were scored in a strange way in Provo on May 7. The score was tied at 5-5 and Lehi had the bases loaded in the sixth inning. "The Moab coach called time out. He brought his first baseman in about 20 feet from the hitter, had the third baseman hold the runner and placed his centerfielder right by the pitcher, which gave Moab only two outfielders. The coach was trying to prevent pre-vent the suicide bunt. The batter hit the ball into the outfield and because there were only two outfielders, out-fielders, he gained a triple tri-ple instead of a single and Lehi scored three runs. Lehi also added one more run in the inning," stated Union High School's baseball coach, Lynn Patterson. |
