Brown caught in Red Fleet Reservoir The Ken Long family of Vernal tried their luck at Red Fleet Reservoir last week and landed a chunky 6-pound German Brown. Because Red Fleet Reservoir was overlooked in last year's fishing proclamation, its waters are still open to anglers. The only problem is there is no access to the boat ramp so fishing is from the shore which requires walking in. According to Ken Long, his family walked into the reservoir about a quarter mile. Although the fishing was slow, they landed several 10-12 inch rainbows and a 6-pound German Brown trout. According to wildlife officers about 45,000 3-inch rainbow trout were planted in the reservoir last summer. These are the fish that are being caught now. About 60.000 fingerling rainbow are being stocked in the reservoir this year. |
