V '' n : BILL PHILIPS, student of the j month Bill Philips student of the month j Bill Phillips, a senior at Uintah this year has been selected as the final "Student of the Month" for the 1980-81 school year. Bill Carries the highest grade point average of any student graduating from the school this year. Bill leads his class with a 3.966 GPA for three years. This high level is very impressive since Bill is one of the few students in the top ten who does not have a couple of activity ac-tivity classes figured into his average. A few of the tough classes Bill has "aced" include college prep English, ' trig and physics. In addition, Bill has : also taken several college classes : through the extension program with : USU. He has A's in college English, ; history and math. In the words of the chairman of the business department, : "I think Bill has made mince-meat out : of every class he's taken." Bill is always prepared, does extra ' work for his classes and comes prepared to participate in the class discussion. If there is an example of a i pure student and scholar at Uintah, it is 2 Bill Phillips. Bill's highest recognition has come in ! the business classes? He is a member of j the FBLA organization and has j represented them in region and state j competiton. This year, Bill placed in j the top ten of the executive decision making competiton. He was also the j state winner in Accounting II. His top t prize in this contest has won him the 1 right to represent the state of Utah in j national competition in Chicago this summer. Bill is an officer in the local FBLA group and went with them to the Western Regional Leadership meeting in southern California. ! In addition to his business activities, ; Bill has also participated in many other ; activities and organizations at school. He is a member of the National Honor j Society, was in the school play, a member of the election convention committee, on the school newspaper staff, a member of acapella choir, and on the graduation committee. Bill has received a four-year full tuition scholarship for his academic work. He is interested in becoming a CPA or chemical engineer. Bill is the son of Ken and Velma Phillips. |
