The studies include projected population growth, industrial development, the current transportation tran-sportation system and anticipated future needs. The completed study is then used to develop a master plan for the succeeding decade. There are 7,569 miles of roads in these five counties. Only 9.5 percent of them are on the State Highway System, but that 9.5 percent carries 85.7 percent of the daily traffic generated in the area. The transportation system in this five county area has numerous improvement im-provement needs which would cost millions of dollars to bring to optimum condition. State Tour 224 in Park City, U.S. Highway 40 from Silver Creek Junction to Heber and many sections through the Uintah Basin, and numerous energy and recreational roads throughout the area are in need of improvement. Even with ideal revenue circumstances cir-cumstances it would be impossible for UDOT to finance all the needed improvements im-provements over a short period of time. And, with the present funding crisis resulting from decreased revenue and increased construction and maintenance main-tenance costs, it has become even more necessary to prioritize needs in order to optimize the use of the few funds that are available. Some of the projects already approved ap-proved by the Transportation Commission Com-mission are: Woodland Bridge over the Provo River east of Francis, Powder . Wash and Little Powder Wash Bridges north of Bonanza, Meidan Barriers on 1-80 at Wanship and Mountain Bell, Duchesne River Road, Marsac School to the Junction of S.R. 248 in Park City. The public is invited to attend and to comment on these projects and other areas of concern or interest. |
