Show Rain forces golfers to play only nine holes Rain won half of the morning tournament tour-nament of the SPE-AIME Petroleum Days Men's Golf Tournament, Saturday at the Dinaland Golf Course as only nine holes were completed. 18 holes were scheduled, but the rain forced the golfers play only nine holes. The team of Ralph Ashton, Steve Russell, Kenton Melton and Jeff Ingerson captured first place in the morning session with a score of 32. The crew had hole scores of 3-4-4-3-4-4-4-3. Each player won $50. Winslow Weber, Manny Lee, Gregg Shipman, Benny Saiz and Jere Lenhart, Ray Kier, Bob Krajeski, A.J. Ruttinger tied for second place with scores of 35. The Weber-Lee-Shipmen-Saiz team posted scores of: 4-3-4-4-4-4-4-5-3. The Lenhart-Kier-Krajeski-Ruttinger team fired scores of: 3-5-5-4-4-3-4-4-3. The golfers won $34.50 each. Carl Rosene, Leon Wilson, Gary Monteer and Bill Gibson, J.D. Howard, Leon Roberts, Marvin Attaway tied for fourth place at 36. Each golfer won $25. Two teams, Royce Fitts, Lane Daggett, Bert Savage, Charlie Teal and Perry Slaugh, Steve White. Ned Henline, Dwayne Taylor, tied for sixth place with a score of 37. The golfers won $12.50 each. |
