Intyre says that the report that the Mammoth mine has been closed Is in error. er-ror. Work Is under way there, although the force is somewhat smaller than It has been, about thirty men being on the payroll. Last week many of the employees em-ployees of the Mammoth mine quit because be-cause the company had failed to follow the; lead of other mines and allow the men two paydays a month. ' The loss of so many miners crippled ! operations to some extent, but Manager Mclntyie says that he Is making the best of th situation and giving employment employ-ment to those who care to work. During Dur-ing tho week the men who remained with the company were given the privilege of voting on the proposition ot a semimonthly semi-monthly payday and a majority of them favored the old system of paying off once a month. The contract under which the Mam-month Mam-month haa been shipping copper ore expired ex-pired a week or two ago and the management manage-ment haa not been anxious to renew, because be-cause a better price for copper Is expected. ex-pected. Mr Melntyre says that a small force 1b at work on one of the old mill dumps of tho Mammoth In the Tintic valley, and that as soon as the dump ore has been piled up whore It can be loaded, It will be hauled to the railroad. For hauling the ore the company will use a ten -ton truck, which was sent out from Salt "Lake a short time ago. The distance from the dump to tho railroad loading station 1b about two miles. Mr. Mclntyre believes that 600 tons or this dump ore can be profitably handled, as it contains copper, cop-per, silver and some gold. |
