Show MIS IS IDEAL PLEDGED III IT HISION' Document Introduced at Chicago Trial Pictures President and Cabinet in Flight. MEMBERS URGED TO WAR AGAINST WAR America's Industrial System Shown Tumbling Like a House of Blocks in "Red Freedom." CHICAGO, May 11. A strange vision ) picturing President Wilson and his cabi- net in flight and Industrial Workers of i the World rising up as saviors of tho ' people, came to Harrison George, a defendant, de-fendant, and in printed form was sub- mitted as evidence today in the trial of 112 leaders of tho organization for alleged al-leged seditious conspiracy. The vision, which the government charges was part of a conspiracy to block America 's war programme, was given wide circulation last summer, and described the nation's industrial system sys-tem tumbling like a house of blocks through practice of sabotage against great producing plants. This and scores of other documents defying the government, assailing conscription con-scription and urging "war against war," were read into the records. A resolution drawn up by the eeneral executive board, opposing war. waF placed in the records over objection of counsel for the defense, who declared there was no evidence showing it was adopted last July, as contended by the prosecution. Personal Letters Next. At adjournment tonight the govern ment virtually had completed introduction introduc-tion of printed matter used in the alleged al-leged anti-war campaign, and expects to follow with matter from the personal files of leaders of the organization Monday. Mon-day. "Workers of all lands, arouse,'' said the printed "Vision,'' published in the Industrial Worker. "Conscription we challenge. We call upon workers of America and all civilized nations to nieet conscription or declarations of war by general strikes and insurrection. I We call upon you irl that hour to seize I control of all industries. Break your ! chains, assert your powr! " After asserting that the I. W. W. was deluged with pledges of support, and that world-wide strikes were about to occur, the "Vision" continued: "Mobilization crippled more and more as days pass. Federal officials are in a pauic. and the rich are fleeing tho country in private yachts." It added that through sabotage hundreds hun-dreds of trains were stalled, wheels of industry had ceased to turn, cities were dark and that troops were disbanding for lack of food. "Senate Fades Away." ' ' The president and his cabinet leave secretly on a yacht for parts unknown; the senate fades away." Government attorneys declare the article ar-ticle was, in effect, a promise to members mem-bers of results that would be obtained if the ' ' war against war ' ' were properly, conducted. "The I. W. W. is credited with defeating de-feating conscription in Australia, and although not so successful in New Zealand, Zea-land, it still had power to fine the powers pow-ers that be 50 per cent of their profits for the crime of putting it over," Baid an article of May 12 in Solidarity. "We point with pride to these facts, and assure as-sure the rebel workers of this and other lands that we will be loyal to our trust. "Bed card men (I. W. W.) are shrewd, determined and loyal to the cause they love," said Solidarity on August 11. "There would not be soldiers sol-diers enough in the country to round them up, nor jails enough to hold them." As late as September 1, just before the government's nation-wide raid, the membership was informed through Solidarity that "the future now belongs be-longs to labor, and no power on earth can make it otherwise.'' "The sky. is bright with the red I morning of freedom. Time will prove that more history was made in Bisbee, Ariz., and Butte, Mont., than all the shell-swept hills of Prance." |
