Show ARMENIAN REFUGEES BEING TRANSPORTED War Victims From Jerusalem Finding Haven With British at Port Said. CAIRO, Egypt, Thursday, May 9. The British government is transporting 1500 Armenian refugees from Jerusalem Jerusa-lem to Port Said. Others are coming from the southeast. The Rov. Stephen Trowbridge, representative repre-sentative of tho American committee for Armenian and Syrian relief, said today that 20,000 refugees had been (riven assistance in Jerusalem by the committee. A hospital has been established es-tablished at Me.jdel, near Gaza. The American Red Cross commission to Palestine, headed by Dr. John H. Finley of New York, will soon arrive at Fort Said. In co-operation with tho American commission and the British-Syrian British-Syrian and Palestine relief funds, it will combat the famine and disease, which are exacting toll in the Holy Land. |
