Show HOMAGE PAID TO THE UNITED STATES Elaborate Ceremony Is Held in Paris In Which Country Is Highly Praised. PABIS, April 20 f Correspondence of the Associated Press) A ceremonv, organized or-ganized by the 'Matinees Rationales'" under un-der the patronage of the ministry of fine arts, for the purpose of rendering homage to the linked States for Its participation in the war and the help afforded France in this struggle, was held at the Sorbonne recently under the presidency of the American ambassador, William G Sharp Many of the most prominent Parisian artists volunteered their services Miss Madeleine Roch of the Comedies Francaise recited two poems. One .was from the pen of Alan Seeger, who gave hi.s life for France in 191H. and the other was written writ-ten for the occasion by the Marquis de la Soudiere and entitled "To imerica " Ambassador Sharp expressed the appreciation ap-preciation of the United States and of President Wilson for the sympathetic gratitude of the gathering, and the ceremony cere-mony was concluded with the plavin of "The Star Spangled Banner" and "the "Marseillaise" by the band of Republican Guards. |
