Bonneville park Friday night when the Salt Lake Elks will give their dancing party and entertainment in that famous J pleasure resort, to establish their fund )for the benefit of members of the lodge who may be wounded or invalided while serving "the colors. 1 The bait Lake Orpheus club, the second sec-ond oldest singing society in Salt Lake, has tendered jts services for ths benefit, bene-fit, and the offer has .been accepted j Iwith sincere thanks by the Elks. A. H. Peabody, the veteran musician, who ! has wielded the baton for this singing club for more than a quarter of a cen- j tury, will conduct the singing, and a number of treats are promised. Efforts are to be made by the entertainment en-tertainment committee to induce the I custodian of Plince Utah, the royal j baby elephant, property of the Salt l.akeJddies, to permit him to make a J ijfTo the public at the dance, and to fcad the grand march. If this can be done in perfect safety, without a chance of jeopardizing the royal baby's health, it is possible that consent may .be obtained, and the little princeling will make his first break into real society. Responses are being received by Secretary Sec-retary J. Edward Swift of the Elks' lodge, to the invitations sent out by the lodge last week to other Royal Purple fellows; Park City Elks are coming in force; Provo will be well represented, , as will be Eureka and the other lodges 1 of the state. The ticket committee has reported ' (hat the demand for the pasteboards of i admission is unusually heavy, and that unless all signs fail, there will be a ! record attendance. The general and ticket committees , will meet at the clubhouse at 8 o'clock l tomorrow night. I The funds derived from the dance and entertainment w'ill be invested in i war savings stamps, and the interest will be devoted to the care of Salt Lake ; Elks who may be crippled or invalided ' during their service for the colors in . any department of the country 'a fight-l; fight-l; ins forces. |
