Show M OF TRUCKS IS SPECIALLY TREATED . GMC Magazine Presents Unique Plan to Instruct All Drivers. Practical suggestions on how best to take care of trucks are made in eacn edition of the GMC magazine. "'Truck Talk," copies of which can be secured at any time from the Randall lodd Auto company, distributors of GMC trucks. - Suggestions are put xip in the form of questions made to an old mechanic, designated des-ignated as -"Old Sam." He uses homely language in replying to the queries, but k'ets to the point every time. following are two questions and answers typical of the valuable advice given out in this form: "I notice in your instruction book on the model 15 GMC you recommend the use of castor or neat's-foot oi for the clutcli facing. I have tried both, but do not seem to get the proper re sults. What would you suggest?" And the reply is: "It don't make any difference whether you use castor oil or neat's-foot, so long as you clean the facing off good with gasoline before you put the oil on. I've seen trucks driven Into this shop to have the clutch fixed, and there wasn't a thing the matter, except the leather was chuck fufl of sand and all kinds of grit. And don't let some smart garage man sell you engine drainings for neat's-foot or castor oil. There's nothing that'll do more harm to the leather than dirty old engine oil, besides engine oil wasn't ever meant to oil leather. You might better get your oil at a drug store and see that it's got the pure food label on it." And then another: "I have-been having hav-ing some trouble lately with the governor gov-ernor on my GMC. It seems to stick occasionally, but I can see no reason why it should. Please advise me what to do for it." "There is nothing really wrong with the governor on your truck, but these r.hbt, dusty days affect them like a fur overcoat would affect a fellow that was working in a bakeshop makes 'em sticky. Now, here's the remedy: When your motor's runnin', take your on can and squirt a few drops of common engine oil in the inlet on the carbureter, bo as to let it get sucked around in the governor, gov-ernor, where It'll do some good. Of course, you don't want to get it all gummed up with oil, but use just enough to keep it from stickin.' " When suggestions of this character do not remedy the trouble, GMC owners always know that they can go to the experts in the Randal Dodd repair shop and be sure of getting the difficulty corrected. The Randall Dodd service station is completely equipped and manned,' by experts ex-perts who know every bolt and screw of the GM C truck, and are capable o t effecting every repair needed. |
