The engagement is another war romance, ro-mance, since the bridegroom has joined the aviation service of the United States army and is expecting a call to duty soon. He will be located at San Antonio, An-tonio, Texas, aud will take his bride there, to remain during his training. Miss Mayo is a member of the senior class of the University of Utah, aud is prominent socially. Her beauty and winsome personality have made her a general favorite. She is a member of the Gamma Phi sorority at the University Univer-sity of Utah and is also a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. 4 . ANNOUNCEMENT is made by Mr. and Mrs. John D. Spencer of Che engagement of their daughter, Helen Y. Spencer, to Rex W. Williams. The wedding wed-ding will take place June 5. Both young people belong to prominent promi-nent Salt Lake families. Miss Spencer is a student of the University of Utah and is popular with the younger society set. She is exceptionally pretty and charming. She is a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Thompson of the Y. M. C. A. at Fort Douglas, and was followed by a wedding supper. The bridegroom is with the medical corps of the Fort Douglas hospital. The couple will make their home with the bride's parents. Announcement has been made of tho marriage of Miss Margaret Mc Holland and Archie McAdams, which took place on Tuesday morning. ALUMNAE members of the Delta Epsilon sorority of the University of Utah were guests at a Kensington and tea given yesterday afternoon by Miss Eva Lund at her home on South Twelfth East street. The house was decorated with lilacs and a dainty color scheme of pink and lavender was used for the tea table, which was covered with cluny lace cloth over pink, and had as a centerpiece a basket of lilacs. The afternoon was spent in sewing, and tea was served later. About twenty guests were present.' STUDENTS of the university high school entertained at the third and last of a scries of dances last evening in the administration building at the university. The dancing was enjoyed in the main hall, and music was furnished by the Madsen orchestra. The women's rest room was decorated with national flags and university banners, and here cosy corners yvere ai ranged and some guests played -ards. The punchtable was set in the reception room, and was decorated with large white wicker baskets bas-kets of lavender and white lilacs. About 15TJ guests were in attendance. The class officers. Miss Virginia Budd, Miss Jessie Hendrickson, Miss Doris Kimball, Silas Smith and Wilford Carl-sen, Carl-sen, were the committee on reception, and Miss Mercic Goldsbrough and Miss .lenalyn Giles wore in charge of the aria ar-ia ugements. Miss Ruth Howell, whose engagement to Spencer P. Felt of Salt Lake was announced an-nounced last week, returned to her home hi Logan yesterday, after visiting relatives rela-tives in this city. She will return to Salt Lake this week. Events of Coming Week COLONEL and Mrs. Edwin F. Holmes w"ill entertain 500 enlisted men from Fort Douglas and an equal number of the members of the Comrade club, composed of young society girls of the city, at their country home, "Oakwood,'' on Saturday evening. Dancing will be enjoyed on the lawn and supper will be served. The Bush orchestra has tendered its services to Mrs. Holmes for the entertainment. Mrs. W. W. Riter and Miss Lucy M. Van Cott arrived in the city yesterday, after a three weeks' trip to New York and Washington. While in the cast Miss Van Cott attended a convention of the deans of women of the various colleges and institution's of the country. Mrs. Ernest W. Ellis of Seattle is in the city, on her way home from the east, where she has visited in Now York, Boston and Washington. Mrs. Charles L.
