| Show AT THE FAIR children from ogden institution attract great attention the six children from the state school of the deaf dumb and blind who are being exhibited at the portland fair arc much attention from educators and others who are interested in the education of those who arc deprived ot eight and hearing miss frances eddy one of the of the school Is conducting the classes iv bich meet daily in the morning the greater part ot the exercises consists ot tho demonstrating of abs tbs methods employed in teaching deaf and dumb pupils to talk the theory on which tho teachers work la that tho children are not naturally dumb but through their being unable to hear they are not able to imitate th sounds that they hearal are those wh oare not so afflicted all of the children on exhibition at the fair are beginners and they are all able to tell from the vibration of the walls when a person is walking or when the piano is being played by watching the lips of people when they they are able to at elret imitate the sound that js made and later to interpret what is being said the live exhibit is one of the most interesting that utah ha at the fair and each day a large number of people are present at the classes |
