Show MICHIGAN RETAINS FOOTBALL PLAYERS ANN ARBOR, Mich., Sept, 4. Michigan, Michi-gan, may yet retain two football players whom Coach Yost had numbered among the missing in tentatively planning his campaign for this fall. Bob Watson, guard, and Karl Staatz, end, regular on last year's team, who wear the big yellow "M," are the men concerned; and if they are able to report for active duty this fall Michigan stock will be several points higher. Both of these players are in the medical college, where, as in most professional departments, de-partments, athletics Is frowned upon by the faculty. These men were told they couldn't get their degrees on time if they played football. Both of them played, however, and are taking summer school again this year to make up for the studies they couldn't carry during the fall term. They expect to be eligible for the team this fall, as, despite their competition on the varsity eleven, they have both passed off all their heavy medical courses satisfactorily. |
