Show POLITICS WARMING UP II GARDEN CITY Friends of Bishop Ralph Poulton Are Booming Him for Mayor. Special to The Tribune. PBOVO, Sept. 4. Bishop Ralph Poulton Poul-ton of the Sixth ward has announced, through his friends, that he will be a candidate for the office of mayor of Provo at the coming election, and his petition for signatures will be presented on Monday. Bishop Poulton has not heretofore "been even talked of among the politicians, and his candidacy coming com-ing now is causing no end of guessing. It is certain that the support conceded to the present mayor, Charles F. Decker, will be very much divided and the chances for a third man in the field will be enhanced by this announcement. Just who that third man will be is not certain at this time, but pressure is being brought to bear by their respective respec-tive friends to induce Ch'arles G. Ward and .1. William Knight to get iDto the race. Mr. Knight has said that he did not want theonice and Mr. Ward, while he at oue time thought seriously of becoming be-coming a candidate, has the last day or two become more or less indifferent. He said today that he had not positively decided one way or the other, but would make Iris announcement within a few days. |
