Show ALTA GQN. STRIKE iPRjlG Oil Management Pushing De velopment on Fissure Carrying Ore- The new atrlke ma1 recently In the west No. 1 drift of the Alta Consolidated properly in the Little Cottonwood district dis-trict continues to improve, according to the management. Recently this drift has beet: passing through a porphyry dike and when the limestone on the other aide was encountered it showed the ore. Assays have not as vet been ma.1-. though samples sam-ples have been sent out. The fissure carrying the ore has the normal northeast north-east and southwest strike of the main ore-hearing fissures of the camp and the drift has been turned to follow the fissure. fis-sure. According to the management, the new body Is the best-looking or- ever discovered In the mine. The development Is being pushed ahead as rapidly as pcsei- In the bedded lode the drift has now been advanced a distance of more than fifty feet from the tunnel and is la ore t-U the way and on all aides. Some Improvement Im-provement lr the grade of ore has been shown during the week and car samples now show an average of better than - per cent copper. The ore Is a heavy sulphide, running high in Iron, and the body ts undoubtedly of great magnitude. Ore of this grade is being successfully treated In other ports ot the united Btataa and. even if no Improvement Is shown In the development of this ore body, notwithstanding a considerable improvement im-provement is expected, the further opening open-ing up of this grovnd is f graft potential poten-tial importance to the Alta Consolidated. The drift is being advanced with a view of intersecting a fissure already opened up in another part of the mine and whfch should be met with In another forty feet or less. This fissure, although narrow, shows In places some very high-grade copper ore and Its Intersection with the bedded lode should yield highly favorable results. In the east No. 2 drift work Is going on In two places, from both of which good developments may be looked for. The ore In the face still continues to vary from fourteen to thirty inches In width. Samples taken during the week assayed seventeen ounces silver, 2.6 per cent lead, 3.4 per cent copper and $1 gold. The crosscut north, which Is being put In to the west of the dike, has advanced eight or ten feet and Is about to penetrate pene-trate the mineral zone toward which it is heading. The winze In the west drift on the Brain fissure has not been advanced much, but all arrangements are now completed, com-pleted, so that In the future rapid progress prog-ress should be regularly made. A large production from this section of the mine seems to be assured with the consummation consumma-tion of the plan now being put Into effect. ef-fect. The winze is going down on the con tlnuation of the Brooklyn stope. Above the tunnel level an ore shoot several sev-eral hundred feet In length has been proved. Below the tunnej level the ore body is practically intact. |
