Show SALT LAKE'S HEALTH RECORD IMPROVING Birth Rate Is Higher, Death Rate Lower, Contagion Decreased, aa Compared With Last Year. More births, fewer deaths and less contagion is the encouraging record shown on the books of the Salt Lake health department for this last week as compared with the corresponding week last year. Typhoid fever is shown to be decreasing decreas-ing in extent in Salt Lake, despite the water contamination. At the close of thfi rrool- thoro woro Kut r, i r, n Wmd under quarantine, while last year there were thirty-seven houses under ban. Fifty births occurred in Salt Lake in the last, week and twenty deaths, while last year in the corresponding week there were forty-two births and twenty-two twenty-two deaths. Last year at this time there were known to exist in Salt Lake twenty-five twenty-five cases of contagious diseases. Last week, however, there were only thirteen cases known to exist, a decrease of virtually vir-tually oO per cent. Seventeen houses are in quarantine as compared to 102 at this time a year ago. |
