Show RANCH OWNER HAS TO LEAVE MEXICO Theodore von Wernich Driven Out of Home by Threats of Villa and His Followers. Possibly no one anywhere is more bitter against Villa., the Mexican rebel, than Theodore von Wernich of Espena-zo, Espena-zo, Mexico, who now finds himself a man without a home, because of the threats and depredations of Villa's men. "I am in Salt Lake City because I cannot go home.' said Mr. von Wernich Wer-nich at the Hotel Utah yesterday. "I have my ranch in Mexico. It is my home. I stayed there as long I could, though Villa's men stole m- caittle and threatened mv life. Finally the threats became so bold that I felt my life would be nothing if I remained.' So I left there August 10. ' ' Since that time, said the homeless rancher, he has been traveling in the United States, making the best of a bad situation. "My cattle have been stolen and my ranch damaged, ' he continued. ' ' Villa Vil-la is waxing fat at the expense of private pri-vate individuals, ranch owners and other oth-er prqperty holders. He is stealing cattle cat-tle and selling them in ' the United States, Since the cattle cost him nothing, noth-ing, he makes a handsome profit. ' Conditions are very bad. The United States will have to intervene, ft will have to come some time soon.' |
