Show Mi INDUSTRY-HAS INDUSTRY-HAS BRIGHT FUTURE George W. Riter Discusses Activity Throughout Various Vari-ous Camps of State. Saying that h had never known of a time when there was so much real work going on in the mining industry in Utah, Nevada and California, and con-fident con-fident that the industry was upon the verge of its greatest era of activity. George W. Riter has returned to Salt Lake after an extended trip to the principal mining centers of the northwest. north-west. In discussing the conditions of the metal market, he said that the greater number of those conversant with the situation were of the opinion that all of the metals will sell higher in the near future. Relative to the increased activity in the mining industry, in-dustry, Mr. Riter said: Throughout the various mining Camps of Utah you will find more real mining work going on at present pres-ent than I have seen in a number of years. I cannot recall a time when there was so much activity. Visit any of the districts throughout through-out the state, and you will find men operating properties that a year ago were idle. One rapidly reaches the conclusion that there is plenty of money to be had for legitimate mining enterprises. The gratifying feature of the activity is that numerous properties proper-ties are today doing more development develop-ment work and prospecting work than at any time in years. In the verv nature of things it follows that strikes will be made. New mines will be brought rapidly forward. for-ward. I have seen a number of properties in full 6wing, working along in a quiet, consistent manner man-ner looking for ore, and as far as I could learn financed for a considerable con-siderable period of time. One no longer hears the well-informed minine engineer citing the fact that while the well-known producers pro-ducers throughout the state are sending out heavy tonnages of ore no new properties are being developed. devel-oped. As an illustration of the increase in the amount of prospecting that is being carried on, there is the story being told among local mining machinery salesmen sales-men of a large construction company that one year ago shipped to Salt Lake ! a carload of equipment, among which I were tons of standard hand tools for j mining purposes, such as hammers, drills, shovels and the like. This ma terial was sent to Salt Lake to be sold for what it would brin. Since that I time all of the mining tools have been i bought up by individuals and small companies and have gone to all parts of thp state. |
