Show SOUTHEAST BENCH SHOWING ACTIVITY More activity has beer? displayed in the real estate market on the southeast bench in the past week than in any week, for the last two rears, according to Earl Dunshea of the firm of C. O. & Earl Dunshee. "For ten years we have been working to have Thirteenth East street opened and boulevarded," said Mr. Dunsbee, "and you can Imagine it is with great satisfaction that we see the big steam shovels at work making Wasatch boulevard boule-vard a reality. Few people realize the meaning of this work, the largest city improvement made this year. Tho contract, con-tract, which was awarded about ten days ago for the curbing, guttering and grading grad-ing of Thirteenth East from Ninth to Twelfth South streets, means the beginning begin-ning of a big building movement in that section of the city, as the completion of this work will make It possible for the residents of the southeast bench to drive directly to the high school and the university, uni-versity, a condition which has heretofore been impossible. "This work, together with the building of, the high school and the new Uinta school at Tenth South and Fifteenth East, the latter of which Is conceded to be the finest grade school In the United States, has started the building movement on the southeast ' bench, which promises to be greater In extent than any other movement of its kind in this city. The excellent school facilities, high ground and paved streets., and the restrictions which have been placed upon, practically all of the property In this section, are responsible for' the great building activity activ-ity which is so noticeable in ' this district. dis-trict. Besides the grading of Thirteenth East, the city is now advertising to pave Fifteenth East street to Westmoreland place, which work will be completed vet this fall. "Among the sales reported in this section sec-tion Is a large building site to F. W. Otterstrom, on which work has been started for the erection of a $5000 Swiss chalet home. Building sites were also reported sold to W. W. Taylor of the Utah Construction companv, H. W, Howell. E. W- Fraser, Arthur C. Moul-ton Moul-ton and W. J. Hanna. . "Arrangements are also being made to pave Westminster avenue, which will connect with the paving extension, on Thirteenth East recently authorized by the city commission. In Westminster heights a residence was purchased the past week by U. U. Hiskey for a consideration con-sideration of $5000. Several new homes are under construction in. this district." |
