Show ALUMNI ENTERTAINS ADMIRAL STOCKTON Colonel M. M. Kaighn Is Toastmaster at Dinner Given to Retired Naval Officer. Rear Admiral Charles Herbert Stockton, Stock-ton, retired, of the Lnited States navy, now president, of George Washington university at the national capital, was the guest of hemor at an informal dinner din-ner given last night at the Hotel Utah by the alumni of George Washington. Admiral Stockton, in an after-dinner talk, declared that there was need for enlarging the navy, and expressed the hope that the people would awaken to the fact. He said ours was a good navy as far as it went, but that it needed more ships and more men. Colonel M. M. Kaighn, president of the I'tah Alumni society of George Washington university, was toastmaster at the dinner. Short talks were given by several of the diners. Besides Admiral and Mrs. Stockton and the toastmaster, those present included in-cluded Dr. and Mrs. W. F. Beers, Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Badger, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hnrd and Dr. and Mrs. Herbert 7.. Lund. Admiral and Mrs. Stockton have been spending several days in the city, being ou a vacation trip through the west. |
