Show Rah, rah, rah Weekend successful for squads during cheerleader finals By TOM HARALDSKN It was a banner weekend for local chccrleading squads competing in the state championships at the University Uni-versity of Utah. Bountiful High took home first place in the all-girls division, while Davis High captured top honors in the co-ed division. Vicwmont High placed fourth in the all-girls division. In addition, Davis High's Laurric Giles, a senior who choreographed the routine for her squad, was winner win-ner of the individual competition. Both Davis and Bountiful have now been invited to compete in Nationals, to be held in Nashville, Tennessee, this spring. As of Monday Mon-day afternoon, leaders of both squads were weighing their options. Bountiful High has also been invited in-vited to compete in Orlando, Florida, Flor-ida, in the finals of the National High School Checrleading Championship Cham-pionship to be held there. The Braves were winners at a regional competition held earlier this month at Taylorsville High School. Viewmonl finished third in that competition. Bountiful has gone to Florida the past three years. There are several national competitions, com-petitions, Vicwmont may well head to Nashville or to California as well, but last weekend's competition is billed as the state championship for Utah because there is no competition competi-tion sanctioned by the Utah High School Activities Association. Congratulations to all the winners win-ners this season. i ...
