Show Hands-on workshop set In conjunction with the upcoming upcom-ing Davis County High School Exhibit, Ex-hibit, to begin Sunday, Jan. 15-27, the Bountiful-Davis Art Center will offer a hands-on workshop on resume re-sume building, covering matting, framing, slide photography, resume re-sume writing and a portfolio critique criti-que for the serious artist. The cost for the workshop will be $20 for all four sessions or $7 per session to help cover materials and instructor's cost. The workshop will be held Jan. 9-12 from 5-7 p.m. in the main gallery of the center. Those interested should contact the Center for pre-registration and information by calling 292-0367. Matting and framing instructor, instruc-tor, Jim Barrow, professional framer,' Apple Frame Galleries. Session will begin with a presentation presenta-tion on methods and styles of mat and window cutting, color choices, craftsmanship, and type styles of frames. There will be a "hands-, on" presentation of cutting mats and windows with a mat cutter. Artists will be allowed to cut and mat one picture, mat size 24x36. Artists wishing to mat more than one picture may do so by providing their own mat board. Slide photography instructor, Tom Toleman, professional photographer. photo-grapher. Session will begin with the discussion and critique of sample sam-ple slides (artists are invited to bring own slides). Discussion will address color, lighting, angle, how well the slide represents the art work, and possible changes. Techniques for photographing both two and three dimensional works will be taught and a backdrop, back-drop, with lighting, will be set up to photograph artist works. A camera will be provided; however, artists are invited to bring their own cameras. Film for up to three slides will be provided by the Art Center. Artists wishing to photograph more than three works must make prior arrangements and bring own film. Resume writing instructors, David Mann, commercial artist and Linda Morrison, commercial artist and English teacher. Session will be a discussion and critique of sample cover letters and resumes, their effectiveness, and possible changes. Artists are invited to bring old resumes, personal information infor-mation and other important "facts" for the purpose of compiling compil-ing a resume and cover letter. Portfolio critique Artist's . portfolios, consisting of matted works, slides, and cover letter-" resume will be evaluated individually indi-vidually and then assembled into a loose leaf binder. Discussion will cover effectiveness and possible changes. |
