Drugs such as crack, LSD and PCP can w distort judgment and reality, cause confusion, panic, and strange or violent vio-lent behavior. Clearly, these drugs will impair one's ability to drive. Drugs that can impair driving are those which affect the central nervous system sys-tem resulting in poor reasoning andor poor motor skills. These drugs include sedatives, anti-anxiety drugs, stimulants stimu-lants and antihistamines. Because these drugs can be obtained through prescriptions or over-the-counter, people consider them to be safe for everyday activities such as driving. Among the illegal drugs, marijuana, cocaine, opiates and hallucinogens can all impair driving. Marijuana, for example, ex-ample, slows the reflexes, making it difficult for a driver to respond quickly to unexpected traffic situations. Also, |
