Show Featured athlete Viewmont's Twitchell works hard on court and in the classroom Tiff has grown physically and emotionally the past three seasons. As a sophomore in 1986, she injured in-jured herself in a pre-game warmup prior to a state volleyball tournament tourna-ment match. That didn't stop her long, however. By time basketball season ended, she was playing point guard for the Vikes. Last season she helped a rebuilding rebuild-ing Viewmont basketball program to 5-10 since her sophomore year, is the senior leader on the Viking squad, a team with just two seniors (the other being Kim Soelberg, who is working to overcome a serious volleyball injury and has seen just limited action thus far). J T, r. - x - - -, I? By TOM HARALDSEN VIEWMONT HIGH-If you look hard enough, and fast enough, you just might find Viewmont High's Tiffany Twitchell spending some time for herself. But you'll have to look real hard and fast, because Tiffany Tif-fany is one of the most unselfish athletes around. When she's not pouring in points Oor the Lady Vikings basketball cam, which she's done since her sophomore year, or using her talents as the studentbody artist for Viewmont View-mont High, and they are many, she can be found in the school library or a classroom working on her difficult diffi-cult class load and maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. The amazing thing about Tiffany Twitchell is that she gives each facet of her life her all. Coach Vi Hillman couldn't believe she was for real when she first started working work-ing with Tiffany two years ago. "I had a hard time believing that anyone could be that dedicated to sports, school and studentbody activities acti-vities all at the same time," Hill-man Hill-man said. "In everything she does, Tiff really gives it her all. She's definitely de-finitely a perfectionist." "In everything she does, Tiff really gives it her all. She's definitely a perfectionist." to a seventh-place finish at state, a sign of things to come as the Vikes have emerged as the early favorite to capture the Region Four title this season and perhaps take state. Perhaps Per-haps more importantly, she has evolved, by her own admission, from a somewhat giggly sophomore to a serious-minded senior who has a mind set on winning when she's on the court. Tiffany, who has grown from 5-7 ing their high school eligibility. "I've coached a lot of athletes who were as successful as Tiff has been," Hillman stated, "but I'm not sure I've ever had a more rounded roun-ded athlete. There are so many things that Tiff does well. " In addition to her athletic prowess, prow-ess, her academics make her a likely candidate to be a Sterling Scholar in any of four different categories. With her GPA, and her athletic skills, colleges will likely be begging beg-ging for a chance to enroll her. It doesn't go ' to her head, however. Tiff remains humble about her successes, more interested in talking about the next game, or the league battle ahead, or a student officer's project. She downplays her own beauty, and is quick to praise that of a teammate or classmate. class-mate. Where the road will lead the Lady Vikings this season is yet to be determined, but one thing is clear. Tiffany Twitchell is on the road to success, and it's a road she deserves to be on. On the court, Tiffany hustles for every loose ball, and isn't afraid to dish off passes to teammates as she leads the Lady Vikings. Her all-around play on offense and defense has helped make the Vikings an early favorite for the Region Four title. k s ? ?
