Show WX Cat Chat By ROB KIME When I first took office as the publicity manager for the greatest high school on earth, I spent a great deal of time worrying about what I would write week after week. However, thanks to the very active and talented studentbody, lack of material has never been a problem. The students and faculty have provided pro-vided me with a constant supply of impressive achievements to report. re-port. My thanks to you who make my job so enjoyable. Our very beautiful and talented Chatelles competed in the Utah Classic. They did a fine job of representing rep-resenting WX, taking fifth in military milit-ary and for an outstanding and creative performance they took first place in the prop division. The drill team, under the direction direc-tion of Barbara Mordue and Janet-te Janet-te Nerdin, is a constant source of pride to their school. It is not uncommon un-common for them to spend five-seven five-seven hours a day in practice. Being "A Step Ahead" is not easy, when you are as amazing as they are it just looks that way. " ( Once again fhe WX Choral de- ' , partment staged a smashing performance. per-formance. The audience in the Temple Square Assembly Hall was moved considerably by the fine showmanship of such an impressive impress-ive group of vocalizers in tuxedof and gowns. But they were mc i impressed by the solid beau' ul sound precisely produced ir the We extend our confidence and support to our fellow WX Wildcats in their various activities this week and in putting WX "A Step Ahead." We are the best. To my knowledge, we here on the planet earth have at present only two examples of perfection. There is the feeling of perfect satisfaction satis-faction that only comes after a long hard day of flying through the greatest snow on earth, and then of course there is WX High. Through the years, it has created an environment that inspires greatness. great-ness. It is the kind of place that brings out the potential for excellence excell-ence in all who are willing to put forth a minimum of effort. This phenomena is especially evident during the present festive season. It is a season which provides a great many opportunities to give of ourselves. The students at WX have seized them all. The WX Chapter of the Future Farmers of America sponsored a Christmas tree decorating contest. All of the organizations and clubs decorated a tree in their own unique uni-que style. The trees were placed on display in the main halL Between the trees, the dim lights and the Christmas music, a wonderful effect was created. The trees were all donated to needy families and community businesses. The Key Club is carrying out its annual Santa-Aid program. The students, after being supplied with specific information about the families, will all donate appropriate items of food and clothing. Besides the presents, and holiday items, the families will each receive a great deal of practical aid. The holidays present us with many questions and many things to ponder, but it reinforces more than ever, one thing that is constant. The students reinforce this fact by their demonstrations of compassion compas-sion and caring. WX High School is, was, and always will be "A Step Ahead." It would indeed be inappropriate for me to pass the week without making mention of the awe inspiring inspir-ing performance staged by the WX choral department. Their music captured the soul of the holiday season. We rule! Tonight there is wrestling action at WX at 7:30, and at Davis. at7:30. We will not be allowed to return until Tuesday, Tues-day, Jan. 3. Happy holidays! tradition of WX choral music. On the lighter side much lighter. light-er. Jack Lythgoe performed at WX to a capacity crowd, the largest in our history, which roared as Jack produced some very good humor. There are still a few students who are wondering just what took place that night and why they are greeted in the halls with wails of laughter. During the next few days tomorrow our swimming Wildcats take on the drowning goats of - Highland. On Friday night, there is la varsity basketball game in our Aymnasium at 7:30 against Layton. lan)'o!owing the game, the drill team J a ill sponsor a stomp everyone is welcome to attend.
