Show Junior Miss program Adventure, scholarship awards, new friends and fun all of these are offered in the Davis County Junior Miss Program. The Davis County Junior Miss competition will be held Jan. 30, 1989, according to an announcement announce-ment by Ms. Kathy Squires, chairman chair-man of the committee making arrangements for the Junior Miss Activity. The local competition is part of a nationwide program to honor and ' reward the country's leading high school senior girls for achievement in scholastics, creative talents, self development and community betterment. bet-terment. More than $2.5 million in college scholarships, savings bonds, and other awards will be awarded to Junior Misses at local, state and national na-tional levels this year. Local girls can enter by calling 295-4017 and requesting entry forms and information regarding entry requirements. Winner here will represent Davis County in the State Junior Miss program in March, competing with other counties for the many scholarships scho-larships awards and a chance to participate in the America's Junior Miss National Finals at Mobile. "The nature of the Junior Miss Program the high ideals established estab-lished and maintained throughout its 25 years has earned the program prog-ram approval of educators and civic leaders throughout the country," states Ms. Squires. At the beginning in 1958, 18 states, with 50 girls participating took part. The program has grown steadily and today embraces thousands of girls in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. |
