Show Orville Child LAYTON Orville Dean Child, 70, of 1752 E. Cherry Lane, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 1988 at a Clearfield care center of heart failure. fai-lure. He was born Aug. 17, 1918 in Riverdale, a son of George C. and Etta Mae Weaver Child. He married Sylvia Forbes July 20, 1940 in Richville. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was reared in Riverdale. He had lived in Clinton for 10 years and in Lay ton since 1951. He graduated from Weber High School. He had been a railroad conductor conduc-tor at the Naval Supply Depot. He had worked for 30 years at Hill Air Force Base as a sheet metal worker. work-er. He was also a farmer and cattleman. cat-tleman. He was a member of the Layton 35th LDS Ward where he had served as a High Priest and a home teacher. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Philippines and South Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion in Layton and the American Amer-ican Association of Retired Persons. Per-sons. , He was an avid horseman and horse trainer. He enjoyed animals, hunting and fishing. Surviving are his widow of Layton, two sons and two daughters, daugh-ters, Vern Ross Child and Uarry Ray Child, both of Layton: Mrs. Richard D. (Sherrin) Warren, Syracuse; Mrs. Margaret J. Child, Clearfield'; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and two sisters, Leo Child, Clinton; Clin-ton; Dora Hansen, Taylor; Leah Whitaker, Ogden. He was preceded in death by one son. Funeral directors, Lindquist's Layton Mortuary. Bishop Gerald Bettridge officiated offici-ated at funeral services Dec. 9. Family prayer was offered by Dee Forbes; prelude, Sandy Stott; invocation, Leo Child; remarks, Bishop Gerald Bettridge; "In the Garden" by Harris Adams; life sketch, Norris W. Nalder; "Somewhere "Some-where My Love" by Sandy Stott; speaker, Don Deru ; ' 'Silver Haired Daddy of Mine" by Harris Adams; benediction, Bruce Wilkes. Dedication of the grave was by John Rogerson with interment in the Kaysville City Cemetery. Military honors were accorded by the American Legion Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Wayne Warren, War-ren, Danny Crockett, Greg Ballard, Bal-lard, Vance Chatwin, Clint Lowe and Marty Mobley, Honorary pallbearers pall-bearers were the Layton 35th Ward High Priests. |
