OLDS FACTORY TRYING TO IET0Ifl Tremendous Activity at the Plant; Economy Truck Responsible. One of the world's gigantic factories, employing thousands of men and making additions by night and day work, is bend- i lng every effort just now to meet the , demand for one of its products which j has swept from coast to coast in popu- ! laxity and is on the high road toward a smashing of all sales records. The factory is the Oldsmobile factory at Lansing, Mich., and the article in such demand Is the Oldsmobile economy truck, sold in Sa4t I,ake by A. E. Tourssen, 445-49 445-49 South Main street. Mr. Tourssen returned re-turned this week from an extended visit to the big factory at Lansing, where he observed at first, hand all the immense preparations being made to handle an unprecedented business in both Oldsmobile Olds-mobile passenger cars and tho Oldsmobile economy trucks. "There is tremendous activity at the Oldsmobile plant," said Mr. Tourssen, "and a survey of the great plans being made and the huge undertakings already being carried on give the idea of the demand de-mand which is forcing the great ejften-sions ejften-sions at the factory. "The popularity of the Oldsmobile economy truck, which is a comparatively new product of the Oldsmobile company, is astonishing. We thought the truck would nil a long-felt need in tho truck field, but even the most sanguine dealers and Oldsmobile officials were not prepared pre-pared for the big success these trucks have scored since being put on the market mar-ket two months ago. "Our store here in Salt Lake has sold carloads of these trucks, and tho demand is unceasing. Our success is being re- I peated by every other dealer in the couri- i trv. and the orders are pouring into the Oldsmobile factory In such volume that everything is being rushed to meet this demand and insure prompt deliveries. The same is true of the Oldsmobile passenger t'drs, Which are not only maintaining their popularity, but bid fair to be in greater demand this season than ever bet'oro. "In pplte of the mountain of orders accumulated ot the factory, however, I was able to arrange for a large consignment consign-ment of Oldsmobiles and Oldsmobile economy trucks to take care of our customer?. cus-tomer?. The trucks are selling fast and j it usually faks only a brief demonstra-l demonstra-l lion to convince prospective buyers that we have the trurk they are looking for."
