A propose! plan of organization for a j 1 boys and girls' club school to be con-I con-I ducted at the coming st;Uc fair has been! submitted to the fair executie board by j Professor J. (J. llogensnn of the Utah' Agricultural college, who has charge of i this branch of work. A school was conducted con-ducted at the last Male fair, and was o successful as to prompt the originators to elaborate on the idea for the fair this year. The plan proposes that children from ! 10 to CO years of ag be eligible for coun-j coun-j ty, district or city competition, and that. I to become eligible for the school at the i y (at e fair, they must win iirst prize Jn j ctuh work in their county, district or city. A committee, consisting of the county, district and city superintendents of schools, is suggested for judges. At the fair it Is proposed to have quar-; quar-; ters in tents, one set for girls and an-J an-J other for boys, under supervision of j competent au t tioril-ies. 1 luring the fair the winners who attend the school would I live in these quarters as the guests of J the fair association. Under instructors they would make daily visits to state 'fair exhibits, hear lectures on thein and gather much valuable information relative rela-tive to the state and its industries. It is proposed that the work be carried on under the joint direction of the state board of education and the extension division of the Agricultural college. The fair board already has appropriated $600 for the school and will take up the plan suggested by Professor Hogenson in the near future. |
