Show PMT PRESENTED AT GOMMUffiTY CLUB "Pied Piper of Hamelin" Is Presented by Members of Classes. Members of the clubs and classes of the Community Recreation house, 323 East Third South street, 300 in number, last night presented an interpretation of Browning's poem, "The Pied Piper of Hamelin," on the clubhouse grounds. The presentation was most interesting and well carried out. The performers and their directors merited the hearty approval they received. The performance began at 8 o'clock and was divided into three parts, representing repre-senting the story of the piper and his luring melodies which charmed away both mice and children. Tho action was presented by means of progressive unfolding series of dances, dialogues and pantomimes. The show opened with the presentation presenta-tion of a May day celebration held in honor of the riddance of rats through the piping of tho musician. This included in-cluded couple dancing by the Bryant Junior high school girls, the Highland Fling by members of the children's gymnasium class, the dolls by the Tiny Tots gymnasium class, Pierrot and Pierette, peasants dancing, by the afternoon af-ternoon class, jumping jacks bfT the children 's dancing class and military marching by the classes combined. The second act consisted of folk dances and drills. Act three was more elaborate and large numbers of complicated com-plicated drills were executed by the classes. Among the most attractive presentations presen-tations were the Highland Fling by fifty children of a gymnasium class, the Dance of tho Wood ISymphs by the afternoon dancing class, Pan and the Winds by the advanced dancing class and Forest Spirits by the afternoon dancing clays. May V. Farnum, recreation leader; Sara G. Holiday, club leader, and Daisy Rolap, dramatic leader, were in charge of the pageant. Music was rendered by the Oquirrh school orchestra. Miss Valentine Golinski had charge of the music. Principal characters of the play were as follows: Rae Rose, pied piper; Beatrice Kelsey, mayor; Johanna Ho-gensen, Ho-gensen, mavor's wife; Edith Simon, the priest; Mary V. MacRae, Peter; .ancy Maconachc. Hans; Margaret Matley, tho town crier. |
