T 01 PROSPECTS ARE MUGHJBIGHTER Addition of Bohan and McGill Likely to Be Big Help. Football prospects nt tho University of Utah l:avo brightened cotifioVraMy. Tho sqnail now mimbers about twenty-five twenty-five men, who aro rapidly reaching eon-dition, eon-dition, with the result that it is already al-ready possible to get. a line on tho regular reg-ular lineup. . Two first-ehiss players registered at the university yesterday and their addition ad-dition to the squad may decidedly nt-feet nt-feet the dope on tho team. Tho players play-ers Rre. Jrjnmett .Bohau and Charles Me-0 Me-0 i 11. both of whom first entered tho institution last midyear. Leaving them out for tho present, the dope tends to show that the eleven will line up as follows for tho opening game at Los Angeles October 21: I'at King or Lloyd Taylor, center; Spence Keid and Maurice Hoacae, guards; Dog Douglass and Harold (ioodwin, tncUles; Happy Van JJelt and Homer Warner, ends; Francis Porter, cpiarterhaek ; Lowell Roinney and Harold Kay, halfbacks; Thorun'i, fullback. Coach Norgreu has been working Louis Karrick at guard, Jack llaywnrd and Sain Laugfonl at ends, Chance Whitnev ami Stove Kerr at quarter, Matthews anil Ferguson at. half and Coleman at full. When Mohan appeared on tho field yesterday Norgren placed him at full hack, ami it is probable that he will be worked in that position posi-tion throughout tho season. Mcdill is a backfield man, but it is not improbable improba-ble that Norgren will use him on tho line. King and Tavlor will very likely put up a hard battle for the center position. posi-tion. King was a regular last vent, while Tavlor was center on tlie freshman fresh-man eleven. Tavlor has an advantage in that he is bigger and heavier. Squad Complete. Wilmar Benson, halfback on last year's t'reshio squad, will return to college col-lege this week, according to reports. The squad will theu.be just about complete com-plete for the season. Darrell Gardner mav return, but this is doubtful. The back line will be unusually fast and heavy this year. Both Romney and Kav, 'who appear almost certain of halfhaeii jobs, are heavy and fast. Hither can do the hundred close to tho ten-second mark. Both Thoruiu an. I Bohan, fullback candidates, are big, and Bohan, in particular, is speedy. He holds the Montana interscholastie quarter-mile record. The men will average av-erage about 170 pounds. The freshies have a good bunch of men in tho field and it is not so easy a matter to get a line on them. At least three or four men appear to have cinched positions. Lee Pruuse has been shifted from end to quarterback and is making good. Andy C.'affev is playing center in good stvle ami miss Pontes is showing up well at end. Jorgensen and Jordan have done some excellent work in the backfield during scnm- mage with the varsity. . The freshies will play their first game noxt Saturday with the Fast high school. On tho following Wednesday they will play - Granite. Other games are'now being scheduled. |
