Show SUBMARINE WAR DOUBLES ACTIVITY IN TWO MONTHS WASHINGTON, Sept. P.O. Much more complete information of Germany s ttuhmarino activities which supnlements Lord Robert Cecil's statement in London Lon-don last, night, was received in dispatches dis-patches from London arriving here today, to-day, which show that between .lune 1 and September 1!4 no less than 262 vessels ves-sels of all nationalities have been mik by submarines. Of those fifteen were repoorted sunk without warning with the loss of eighty-four lives. A total of fcixty-si neutral' vessels were destroyed during the period. Today's fuller information brings out that, the submarine activity has practically prac-tically doubled during the last two months. During .lune, after delivery of the American note on the Sussex, accepting ac-cepting Germany's agreemeut not to sink vessels without proper safeguard to lives on board, fifty-seven vessels were sunk, of which five were neutral and six. including three neutrals, were sunk without warning with the loss of twent.v-five lives. In '.lulv the total fell off to forty-two, forty-two, including nine neutrals and two British sunk without warning .with the loss of fortv-one lives. In August the total sunk more than doubled with the figure of including includ-ing twenty-six neutral vessels. Two allied al-lied boats were sunk without warning with the loss of three lives. The figures fig-ures up to September 24 show a continuing con-tinuing high rate of destruction in the month, with a total of seventv-five vessels ves-sels sunk, including twenty-six neutrals with five allied boats sunk without warning with the loss of fifteen lives. |
