Shoved out of the lead in the pennant scramble by a 7-to-2 defeat in the morning game today, the Dodders re-estp-bllshed themselves, after a lapse of a few hours, by downing the Phillies in the second 'game with a count of 6 to 1. J 11 their matinee victory, the Dodgers ran rough-shod over Alexander, Moran's tig ace. Alexander was hit heavily and consistnetly and was finally removed In the sixth in favor of a pinch hitter. Marquard and Stengel were the real heroes of the Dodger victory. Rube allowed al-lowed but three hits and walked nobody. Two hits came in the first, and. with a balk sandwiched in between, permitted permit-ted the Phillies to score.
