Show RAILROAD MEN DISCUSS KRAMER'S SUCCESSOR Through the vacancy caused by the death of George W. Kramer, vice-president of the Colorado Midland railroad, and the Utah Fuel company, a general shake-up in those Gould corporations is expected. It is generally thought that the position of vice-president of the Fuel company will be taken by H. G. Williams, the present general manager; in fact, there Is no one else in sight who la deemed capable of tilling that office. The position of general superintendent, which was held by Mr. Williams before he became general manager, has been vacant since his promotion. The general gen-eral opinion now is that William Forrester, For-rester, mine superintendent at Clear Creek, will be mado general superintendent, superin-tendent, with Mr. Williams as vice-president vice-president and general manager. Mr. Kramer's death also necessitates the appointment of a vice-president to represent the Gould interests In the Colorado Midland railroad. Opinion 1b divided as to whether O. H. Schlacka, general manager of the road, or A. E. Welby, formerly general superintendent of thc Rio Grande Western, will be appointed. ap-pointed. The Gould Interests have hitherto been represented by Frank Trumbull and G. W. Kramer, who was also a large stockholder In the company. com-pany. Mr. Welby, who Is at present on his ranch at Willows, Cal., near Sacramento, Sac-ramento, has been spoken of In Denver Den-ver as a probable successor to Mr. Kramer, Kra-mer, but It Is not known whether he Would accept the office. Those who were connected with him when he was In Salt Lake are of the opinion tljat no better vice-president could be chosen by Mr. Gould, and a former associate of Mr. Welby said yesterday that he "would like to see the 'old man' back in harness." |
