Reports of marriages mar-riages between American soldiers and Gcnnanjgirls have been received at headquarter head-quarter from various parts of the occupied occu-pied arda during the past few days, but as yet '-no charges have been filed against-any of the men. It is believed most o the marriages were due to misunderstandings mis-understandings regarding the anti-frater nization regulations. A week before the treaty was signed sveral of the chaplains, through a misunderstanding, mis-understanding, informed the soldiers that marriages were permissible as soon ag the Germans accepted the peace terms. Officers say that a number of marriages took place before this belief was corrected cor-rected by a special order from headquarters headquar-ters calling the attention of officers and men to the fact that until the United States ratified the treaty German- and America technically were at war", and the regulation' prohibiting fraternization was still in force. At headquarters it is said that even after the United States ratifies the treaty marriages with German girls will he prohibited py an army order. |
