Show THOMPSON SMELTER MAY RESUME SOON Rumors are current that the smelter at Thompson will toon resume operations, according to Dick Randall, sheriff of Lyon county, and, while nothing official has been announced, activity around the various va-rious mines of the Munon valley district indicates that such a move is in contemplation, contem-plation, says the Nevada State Journal. More men are being put to work and repairs re-pairs are being made, all of which tends to show that the mines will be turning out the normal production of copper in the near future. Mr. Randall says there has been a serious seri-ous shortage of water this year, and in some places crops have buffered from drought. A bond issue is proposed for the purpose of building storage rrservotrs to conserve the flood waters. The shortage of irrigation water this year, the sheriff states, has awakened people to tho im- rortanee of voting the bonds and prepar-ng prepar-ng for future emergencies. |
