Show AYER LOSES LEG ON JOHN BORDEN TROPHY NOME, Alaska. May 2. (By Dop Sled Mail.) Leonard Seppala's team of Siberian Si-berian dos, several times -winner of the all -Alaska sweepstakes, the abandoned aban-doned derby of the north, recently set up a record on the thirty-six mile Borden Bor-den marathon course from Nome to Cape Nome and return. Soppala. driving- his team against time, made the thirty-six miles and :iS5 ynrds in 1 hour, en minutes and L'S 3-rths seconds, which was two minutes fifty-five fifty-five and three-fifths seconds faster than the time made several weks ago by Leonard M. Ayer, another driver, and his team. Ayer, by setting- his fast record, won permanent claim to the cup offered by John Borden. Chicago sportsman, to the driver and team winning the ma rat hon three years in succession. Sep fa la was not here to race against Ayer whr-n the latter made his record. AVhen St'pnaia arrived last week Ayer said he would j relinquish his claim to the cup if Sop-pala Sop-pala bested his time. Ayer now has two legs on the cup and Si ppala one. Devore Released.
