Show CliTCE IS BACK FROM PACIFIC COAST Utnh County Men Obtain Ideas for Building Courthouse Court-house and Roads. Special to The Tribune. PROVO, July 6. Mayor and Mrs. Le-Roy Le-Roy Dixon, City Commissioner and Mrs. Henry Goddard, County Commissioner and Mrs. J. D. Wadley, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jo-seph Nelson, County Commissioner Joseph Jo-seph Reece, William M. Wilson and Harry Har-ry Heal returned to Provo last evening from an extended tour of the cities of the Pacific coast. All except Mr. Heal went to inspect buildings and roads, with a view to obtaining' information that will be 01 value in the construction of a city and county building, which will be erected here in the near future, and in a campaign of road building which will be entered into in the near future. The party first visited Los Angeles and smaller cities of southern California, Califor-nia, traveling northward to San Francisco, Fran-cisco, and then on to Portland and Seattle. Seat-tle. The visitors were part icularly impressed im-pressed with the many miles of paved highways along the Pacific coast. While they did not find anything in the way of a courthouse that will exactly meet the needs of this city and county, they obtained many ideas on building materials, mate-rials, filing systems, etc. Members of the committee stale that a reinforced fireproof concrete building, with a combination of terra cotta and stone for the outer walls, will undoubtedly undoubt-edly be the most practicable for the ioint building to be erected here. Architect Joseph Nelson says that he will have plans and specifications for the new building ready to submit in the near future and that work will begin before cold weather sets in. |
