Senator Phe-lan Phe-lan of califoriiia today announced he had submitted to ttie state department information infor-mation he had received showing that the Korea, a Japanese liner, had recently brought 150 "picture" or proxy brides to California for husbands who had never j seen them. Other information submitted to the department, the California senator said, sbowed the arrival of a number ot the "brides" at Seattle. Such immigration. immigra-tion. Senator Pbelan said, amounts to, defeat, in effeet, of the "gentleman's agreement."
