Show Hansen should not criticize Owens Dear Editor After reading the article entitled "Help oust Owens, Weber GOP urged" (Tribune, May 13), I couldn't believe it! Wayne Owens is the hardest working, most sincere representative Utah has. Who does Hansen think he is? A little czar? Hansen vowed to have the Wasatch Wa-satch Variation Pipeline rerouted onto a safer path. But, he has been playing both sides against the middle. His constituents seem to mean nothing to him, nor does his word. Recently, our representatives voted themselves a huge salary increase. in-crease. The only man to refuse his, in lieu of donating it to charity, was Owens. His word is gold. When the Brigham City Indian School was being considered for closure, Hansen said he would keep it open. But, the school closed The only thing the Indians had was their r beloved school. Thanks to Hansen, even that was taken from them. Now Bangerter agrees that Owens should go. Since he became governor, our taxes have doubled, the environment has suffered, etc. Birds of a feather, I guess. The wonderful government we had in the ' 80s is really funny. Tell that to the three million street people, peo-ple, cut Medicaid and Medicare and much needed social programs, etc. There are good and bad people in both parties. I vote for the man. Unfortunately, Un-fortunately, at this time, the Republicans are making a bad showing. We need men like Owens and to elect men like Brunsdale. They aren't working just for the rich, but for all their constituents. Hansen shouldn't run anyone down. In fact, he shouldn't run at all. Fred Engelbrecht Bountiful |
