Show Stress management class set B OUNTIFUL--Davis County Mental Health is offering a four-week four-week community education class in stress management. The class is being be-ing offered at the Davis County Mental Health Center, 470 E. Medical Drive, Bountiful, and will be taught by Diann Davis, M.Ed. It will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. each Monday and Thursday evening beginning June 4, and continuing con-tinuing through June 28. The class is an introduction in developing specific stress management manage-ment skills, and in changing stress to a healthy and energizing force, rather than an unhealthy tension, which is how most people perceive stress. In these weekly classes, men and women can become more aware of the sources of stress in their lives and their personal reactions to stress, both physical and emotional. The body's stress response will be described as well as functional and dysfunctional adaptations we make to stressful events. A personal assessment of stressors and stress levels is an integral in-tegral part of the course. Also explored ex-plored will be specific coping strategies; stra-tegies; such as relaxation, visualization, visualiza-tion, self-talk, and cognitive management Special emphasis is placed on understanding the relationship rela-tionship between thoughts, feelings, behavior and emotion.
