Show 4-H registration deadline nears FARMINGTON-Registration for 4-H must be completed by June 1 at the Farmington Extension office. of-fice. The 4-H program is a voluntary, real life educational program for boys and girls regardless of race, color or national origin. The organization provides opportunities oppor-tunities for children and teens to be successful as they learn and develop new skills, give service to others and become responsible members of their communities. The official 4-H age is 9 to 19; however, younger children may participate par-ticipate in family 4-H clubs and alpha clubs, where leaders have a desire to work with younger youth. There are many projects members may choose to work on over the summer or throughout the year. Projects include aerospace, child care, clowning, wildlife and hundreds more. The 4-H program sponsors a variety of contests for members. Prizes for these contests range from ribbons and cash awards, to trips throughout the United States. Clubs are taught by volunteer leaders. Written guides are provided provid-ed to assist 4-H leaders, and training programs are held throughout the year. Leaders also experience great personal growth and development as they meet new people, visit new places and learn new ideas.
