Show Utvh Mineral Springs Tf Ponce do Leon, seeking for tho Fountain of Youth, had come to the basin of the great dead sea of America when on his quest for the fabled fountain, foun-tain, somo measure of success would have rewarded his efforts, for whilo ho would not havo found a fountain of perpetual youth, ho would have discovered, discov-ered, at the baso of the Wasatch mountains, moun-tains, fountains of health and healing prepared by the Giver of All Good for the benefit of his children. For generations genera-tions before and after Ponce do Leon these fountains were carrying their henling waters to the natives of tho west, and, later, to those who came hero to settle and develop the wealth of this valley. It was but a short time after the entry of the pioneers into this valley that they discovered tho vapors, of these hot springs at the foot of tho mountains, and later learned thoir valuo as curative waters in many respects, and especially for rheumatism and other inflammatory diseases. There were two sets of these springs, both within the present limits of the city, and as time passed both of them were appropriated and Converted into summer and winter bathing resorts, with public and private plunges, and with bath tuba and other conveniences, and both resorts became very popular with the public, resideut and visiting. Tho earliest to bo brought to that use wero the Warm Springs, in the north part of the city, and they arc still muning. and will continue doing fcuch indefinitely, for nothing short of a cataclysm will ever stop the flow of these hot sulphur waters. The Hot Springs, about three mils north of the Warm Springs, wero converted con-verted into a resort somo years later, and with largo swimming pools, public and private, attracted, largo crowds on all occa&ions. Tho springs aud resort changed hands a number of limes, and finally they were wipnd out entirely by fire, and havo never been rebuilt. But tho waters aro still flowing, ns they will forever. There are other notablo hot springs sanitariums in the state, in addition to the two in Salt Lake. One of the best of these is tho Hot Springs, situated nine mile3 north of Ogdcn, on the line of tho Oregon Short Line, and also served by an hourly car service from Ogden over tho lines of the Ogdon Rapid Transit company.
