There was an increase in tho number of smallpox cases over tho preceding week. Thero were 32 now cases of smallpox last week, as against 5 for the prior week. Other contagious aud infectious in-fectious diseases ran high, however, there being 5J all together, 19 of which wcro scarlet fever, 5 chickonpox, S whooping cough, 2 pneumonia, 3 diphtheria. diph-theria. 1 typhoid fever and 1 measles. Twenty-two houses arc left under quarantine on account of smallpox. In casos remain at I lie isolation hospital, 'M houses remain under quarantine on account ac-count of scarlet, fever and 5 on account of diphtheria.
