The big musical contest proposed by tho Murray First ward is gradually being planned nnd plans laid for one of the most successful success-ful events of the kind ever held in Salt Lake county. The contest management has decided lo extend the limit of the contest and include Jordan and Grauito stakes. Two sets of prizes will bo awarded, one to the choir consisting of thirty-live voices and over and the other to the choir consisting of less than thirty-five voices. Each choir can enter ono contest or the other, and tho sumo would be separate and distinct, in order tliat choirs consisting of a smaller number num-ber of voices would not bo handicapped by competing with a choir double their number. PJaDs were approved this week for a $ 15,000 meeting house for Miller ward. They have been placed with Kutherford & Hansen, architects, of Salt Lake. Tho new building will bo Gothic, renaissance style, with dimensions of 103x83 feet. The amusement hall will havo a seating seat-ing capacity of 150 people. A stage for amnteur acts will bo inclndcd in the Elans. Work on tho new structnro will e commenced immediately. |
