Show I Sports In The Open Space 1 x: Setting of the opening date for the' fall, pheasant hunt, license revocations, re-vocations, and other improtant department de-partment of fish and game policy matters were recently processed by the Utah Fish and Game Commission. Com-mission. The commission met for the annual spring quarterly sessions ses-sions at department headquarters in Salt Lake City. Opening date set foi the pheasant pheas-ant and quail seasons was Saturday, Satur-day, November 10. Length of sea son, bag limits, and other regulations regula-tions are not drawn up until field checks showing the spring hatch and summer survival are presented to the commission in late summer. The earlv opening date was set for the convenience of sportsmen in planning ahead for this hunt. Uti.. law requires the ci remission to impose this penalty whenever such an accident is the result of "carelessness or negligence." Other actions during the meetings meet-ings include the following: Approved purchase of another plane for use in the management program, chiefly in game and range surveys, fish planting, and law enforcement work. Scheduled the four quarterly public meetings for the year ahead as July 27-28, September 21-22, December 28-29, and April 12-13. Several other meetings than the four required by law are scheduled sched-uled by the' commission each year to effect department policy. The water is now available through an extension ex-tension of city mains and will replace re-place the current cistern water now in use at the farm. Decreed that department cars and trucks be painted a uniform color and display both the state ownership and department signs. Older equipment to remain the same until replaced by new units. Listened to a delegation from Scipio requesting department's cooperation co-operation in realigning canal carrying car-rying water to that area from Oak Grove Springs. Further study will be given the offer to use private land and spring water for fishery developments. Other actions included study of evidence concerning crop damage by deer in a Nephi area, offers to buy, trade and lease lands, and other current and general depart-ment depart-ment policy business. The full five man commission attending were Chairman Golden G. Sanderson, K. E. Bullock, W. Rulon White, Robert B. Mitcheli and Jack C. Turner. |
