Show Excerpts From The Minutes Of Commission Meet The following excerpts from the minute's of the Duchesne county commissioners,' April 3 meeting, have been released for publication: Present were Floyd E. Lamb, Lyle E. Young, Clinton J. Mickel-son Mickel-son and Porter L. Merrell. The commission voted to pay the Utah State Agricultural College Col-lege all money collected from Indians In-dians in the county for 1955 extension ex-tension services purposes. Robert S. Murdock, county agent, ag-ent, reported on the county fair, as follows: W. C. Foy of Duchesne would like to be released as chairman, but would still act on the board; therefore, a new chairman should be appointed. The fair board for 1955 consisted' of the following members: Jesse Allen, Mont Poul-son, Poul-son, W. C. Foy, Robert S. Murdock, Mur-dock, John Strang, Milton Poul-son, Poul-son, secretary, Winslow Rhoades, Lawrell Jensen, Mary Lois Reich-ert, Reich-ert, Thelma Lloyd and Lyle L. Young. The county commissioners voted vot-ed to accept the resignation of W. C. Foy and that he be given a vote of thanks for the splendid work he did; that all the above-named above-named people be appointed as county fair board members for 1956; that the county agent call a meeting of these members and appoint a chairman to act for 1956. Mr. Murdock reported to and discussed with the county commissioners commis-sioners the noxious weed control program in the county. He stated that Hyrum Jensen had been employed em-ployed as spray operator for the county this year; that the Co op at Roosevelt had sold most of the chemical; that 150 a gallon had been added to the sale price to pay for handling. Mark and Jack Bleazard requested re-quested the commissioners to sell them 160 acres of county owned land along the highway at the Talmage - Boneta road junction southeast of Talmage. The commissioners com-missioners agreed to go over the ground after the meeting. The' commissioners agreed for the Western Machinery Company to demonstrate a "rock buster" machine in the county during April. The county is to furnish equipment to pull the machine and a motor grader to spread the gravel behind the machine, and are to pay $10 an hour for actual time the machine is working or 30d a yard for gravel crushed, whichever the county decides to do. The county is not responsible for the machine, but is to desig-" nate' about two miles of road on which to demonstrate the "rock buster." , Changing Quarters The commissioners ordered that the following changes be made in office quarters in the courthouse in order to make more room for an Extension Service office: Welfare department move into rooms 20-22, across the hall to the north of the space formerly occupied; the public health nurse move into room 12, connecting with the clerk's office; the justice of the peace move into room 2, the library; the Extension Service move into rooms 17-19-21, formerly for-merly occupied by the welfare department and the justice of the peace. The clerk was asked to have a solid wall put between the two juvenile rooms in the courthouse. Blue Bench G. B. Workman, county assessor, assess-or, said that he was representing a group of citizens in Duchesne and that they felt they were entitled en-titled to an opportunity to purchase pur-chase land on Blue' Bench provided pro-vided there is water for it. The commissioners explained this situation sit-uation to him. |
